Irish people are divided into those who know nothing about Poland, and those who were in Krakow and think they know something about Poland. Both of them know nothing about Poland. Their basic knowledge on this subject stems from what they see at home, and that for a change is often detached from reality – columnist writer Piotr Czerwinski for the Virtual Poland.

Good morning or good evening to everyone. Yes, it’s true. ‘Irole’ do not know much about Poland. It is, moreover, national nightmare in many countries of the so-called West that their residents in certain areas of knowledge do not feel the best, and geography is at the forefront of these fields. Eastern Europe is so exotic, that most of them are not sure exactly where it is and if there is guaranteed access to electricity in this part of the world… I met an Irishman who was convinced that Poland is situated between France and Germany. Another claimed that our country has only existed for several years, as has always been part of Russia. Another believed that Poland as a country does not exist at all, and its inhabitants are simply migrating tribes.
Unfortunately, the guy was not joking, and I’m getting closer to the conclusion that he was absolutely right. French topic is indeed much more prevalent, specifically in response to the news that Poland had resistance movements and I’ve even heard that many French people were willing to die for our country. No wonder: knowledge about the Second World War came from the TV series “Allo-Allo.”

Slightly more smart ‘Irole’ who chose the book from the school hurling, or eagerly watch the Discovery Channel, have usually conviction that Poland is the second Ethiopia, although with the arctic climate. Substantially Poland has polar bears running everywhere, Polish receive weekly food parcels from the Red Cross and the sun is constitutionally excluded, and all the Poles are labor workers, never speaking foreign languages… Since compatriots signal similar content from USA and the UK, statistical Irol imagines terrible things about the average Pole.

We need an almost drastic measures to prove that we are much more civilized nation, than anyone seems to perceive and that not every Pole is ‘illiterate Czech’ and not all Poles are from Southampton. Because as you know, it is now the largest Polish city in the world and existential flower of the Polish intelligency.Any attempt to prove the contrary is an act of political manipulation. With all respect to Czech brothers.

I have my favorite ways to combat stereotypes. When I hear the question: “u’re from Poland and working in a pub?”, I answer “no, I’m a writer.” So, I hear: “a writer? wow, incredible!”, I say then: “You see, appearances can be deceiving. You, for example, seem to have a look of smart fellow..”
Before pub there were questions about construction, but since crisis nobody bothers it anymore…

Much more challenging discussions are performed by those who believe that a foreigner has no right to know English, so Irish generation speak to any foreigner, as he was retarded or 3 yr. old. These are usually people who are confident, based on their own experience of not knowing languages, that no one can learn any foreign language.

Their conviction of illiteracy is so strong that even when you, as foreigner of course, speak to them in their native dialect, you hear silence or buzz words like expressing everything in sign language in return. Of course there is always the possibility that those whom I encounter, are handicapped or are three years old as well. You never know.

Instantly it reminds me of an Irish woman, who hearing the news that in the Polish pubs for snobs only bread and lard are served, replies sagely: “In poor countries it’s normal.” So then I riposte whether in rich countries you suppose to eat for breakfast sausage and for all the other meals a bucket of potatoes, just like in the land of bajobongo, but for that matter never get an answer…

I become food related patriot when the two Irish grandmothers carefully watched hunter stew placed in glass jar as if it was a hand grenade, then put it carefully back on shelve, so it would not explode. People in these regions probably think that Polish food can be eaten only by the Poles, because all other nations can end up in terrible pain and diarrhea after consumption. So I took a national stand and I explained that our food is entirely organic, as we send all our chemicalized foods for abroad export. Consequently stew, pate and meatballs in my store could be the last healthy foods in the world. As it is known that chemical composition of Western food is similar to this placed in rocket Soyuz T-7. The two grandmothers, who appeared as smarter kind- possibly Discovery Channel viewers- and knowing what’s hot, nodding their heads in admiration, left the store with supply of stew and meatballs for the whole family, including all thirty grandchildren. Since then, I push the same bs to all grandmothers, whenever some stop at hunter stew shelve.
Viewing Irish vision of our country, it should be clear to everyone that Ireland is not overly industrialized country, and even Dublin itself is quite rustic, which demonstrates that, in terms of urbanization, there is something made out of nothing. I appreciate this city, moreover, its foggy, folklore, bottom storied nature because it acts as a vaccine for feeling down and thus it is not possible in this city to rush anywhere or worry about anything.

When Irish people watch photo images of Polish cities, they seem seriously shaken and refuse comments. Certainly they may suspect that they are shown a photomontage of Paris or Manhattan, and that some crafty weirdo with a bald head, pretending to be a Pole, grows some dodgy propaganda right in this image.

Oh well, let’s leave it up to their reception. After all, you can only do as much to improve global understanding….

How important is quality of water, air, preserving green planet and reducing human resources, the time will only tell.

And although we have warning signs from all over directions, although many great technologies provide it to us, we don’t stand a chance. To survive we will have to become mutans, organisms which can deal with never before genetically conditioned fact.

Amount of air polution and gas emissions, ozon layer thinning, water sources being reused as there is almost none in natural stage to be consumed and every other ways of unbalancing this earth, soon enough, will force us to new existence if we can survive….

There is nothing unusual about it: we drink contaminated water, we breath in oxygen not in its pure stage, we eat foods, genwtically modified and chemicalized. What outcome do we expect?

Outcome is already here. Weak immune response, more diseases, allergies, uncontrolable moods, poor quality of every day life….List goes on.

And as wishful thinking is in making, humans keep going to where they should avoid at all cost.

We spend radiculous amount of time, concentrating on meaningless matters, instead we consume more and more, killing our own race. consume by any means.

This planet can only rest if there is not even one human being left.

Alarming sound is there, but those who hear it are in minority….And history goes on till it’s too late to act.

Mr. Obama, as quoted in Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, Lincoln kept closer his enemies than friends. He was THE ONLY president who has done it. Although it’s your model book, you never followed this guidance and now: not only your own government, but far allies do not need America any more and this is downfall of the Republic A.Lincoln predicted. India or China are on their own and they are perfectly fine with this. There is no “win-win” relationships where the money is involved. Instead there is: “who is gonna be in charge of others?” and certinely US is not in this position. This world changed in terms of system perception and dominance. What used to work, doesn’t work anymore and although some people have great leadership skills or intentions, they lack in many instances humble attitude and overall understanding. To find a LEADER nowadays is to find a person who is not prone to get corrupted and overtaken by system itself, yet a person who lead wise men, educated nation and posseses humble attitude. Following, the world we live in, will take on the next step. Until then, many republics, kingdoms and nations will fall and only few will arise as they hold the key to right leadership.

America becoming paranoid?

Obviously yes. From recent warnings to past events, America is on the crossroads: what to tell its citizens, what to keep quiet about?

The truth is, more paranoid this country will become, more problems it will bring upon itself. Current news constantly touch subject of alerts being raised continuously. There is no even scale left. Red seems not enough. Maybe there should be ‘volcanic’ red: something spitting out of newspaper pages, mailboxes and definitely street activities, like flyers?

Every American administration will concentrate on getting Americans completely isolated, alienated and scared to the raw bone.

America soon will become a ghost-country, where only twisters will swipe obstacles on the way and huge hurricanes will be madly damaging left overs. On top of it, those who believe living under special protection (government one), will arm themselves up to their head tops and will be running on the streets searching for possible terrorists on every corner.

No need fellow Americans: they are already invited by your dear government, training on military bases and enjoying numerous immigration benefits. America doesn’t have to look far. Neighbour may be THE ONE, so it is relatively easy to create absolute homogeneous homocide, in once great country…

Leave media alone. They love drama and they feed you with it, America. So as we follow amazing updates on TV or internet, sometimes listening to the radio, we get extremely freaked out. Pretty soon looking in the mirror will be like your own little terrorist war. Sabotaging yourself…

There is nothing more powerful than constant mind programming: “So America, be warned, hide in houses and remember that no place on Earth is friendly to you.”

And in case you wanted to know why, ask your own governors who are continuing with war, raise your taxes and tell you how to live your life. If you are afraid of communism under Obama, you don’t need to worry.

Current reality is worst than Cuba, Ethiopia, Korea, Venezuela, post Soviet communist block combined.

It is called ‘fallen capitalism’. And frankly there is nothing what can be done.

David Irving, the controversial British historian, punished for a lie the Holocaust  came to Mragowo with a group of his fans will go away to visit the headquarters of the Third Reich leaders.

Irving is accompanied by a dozen American tourists (?), whose money is used to guide him to the death camps and places associated with Nazism. As a base he has chosen local hotel. Most likely on Friday, heading off to the nearby ruins of wartime headquarters of SS commander Heinrich Himmler, code-named “Hochwald” in Pozezdrzu and Adolf Hitler’s headquarters in Gierłoż.

The historian was surprised by the presence of journalists at the hotel.So far he has successfully avoided direct meetings with them. He would not disclose details about Friday’s tour, said only that he intends to visit seven sites. Perhaps the headquarters of the high command of the army code-named Anna in Mamerki and accommodation field-office chief of the Reich by Hans Lammers Radziejach near Ketrzyn.

Provincial Police Headquarters in Olsztyn has already sent to the district commands in Mragowo and Kętrzyn information that their actions may be present in the visit of controversial historian. The police have to be prepared for the fact that during the visit there may be a demonstration or picketing.

Against Irving’s visit in Poland, among others, stood Association “Open Republic”, which applied to the IPN for the initiation of investigation against him considering his denials of Nazi crimes.

Isabella Niedźwiedzka, from the press office of Warmia and Mazury stressed that the Irving is treated as an ordinary tourist, however pending a possible criminal offense, police will get involved.
Irving, as he revealed on his blog, have already visited Poland in July this year. He was incognito to learn and prepare for the planned fans expedition route. He was in “Wolf’s Lair” and Hochwald. He planned to visit a German extermination camp in Treblinka, but that day the museum was already closed.

Irving is in Poland since Monday. He says that his trip has a “study character’ and is expected to continue until September 30. He added that he had come “as a guide for tourists and lecturers.”

Irving told AP that his group was already in Treblinka and intends to visit three other, former death camps. According to him, a group composed of British, Americans and Germans returns to their countries on Sept. 30. He did not reveal how many people are in the group or if his members have paid for the opportunity to tour with him as a guide of the Nazi concentration camps.

Irving’s stay in Poland and his public announcements is investigated by IPN. The Institute is ready to “procedural steps” if Irving denies crimes of the Nazis. According to the law of the IPN,who “publicly, and contrary to the facts,” denies the crimes of the Nazi or Communist, is subjected to a fine or a penalty of up to three years in prison.

Where are you true America, where are heroes who defined history, where are authentic landlords, who had their rights taken away and beomce slaves of their own land?

Where are you true America, where land used to be so pure and untouched, where poeple were living in peace with nature and where birds were singing song of freedom.

This freedom was taken away from you long, long time ago and although inhabitants, those born and those who came from far lands claim they protect their rights, freedom and new life, they are wrong.

Nothing can be built on blood of past, nothing can’t be built on echoes of suffer, unless we return it to those who own it….

Where are you true America? You are hiding in shadow of dehumanized actions of agressors, who say they defend you; you are hiding in homes of those who are scared to come out, because they live unlawfully in the land of immigrants; you are hiding in voices of those who claim to be Americans and don’t understand bit of what it means; you are hiding in uncontrolable consumerism….

When your core was established in shape of constitution, it now remains nothing even close to founding fathers dream and thoughts.

You took wrong turn America, you can not trace anymore your own past, living only your future, you don’t have.

You chose to ask those who were here to leave or be killed, you asked to follow wrong choices on every step of the way, you don’t hesitate to take it further. You don’t learn your own history. You only learn how to destroy it.

Everything around is showing you that you won’t last. Many tragic things are happening at your cost, many people are dying abroad to protect you, many of your residents don’t find good life in your own corners…

You lost your direction, your priorities, following utopia which is a fake vision, you become disgusting object of world conversation, you become a joke.

And, although power of suggestion maybe still effective, it’s a matter of time for you America to go back to your roots where you have to rediscover own image again. Will you find yourself?

The U.S. Army is hiring up to 300,000 women. Statistically, every third of them, by the end of her two-year service, will be raped at least once. Not by enemy guerrillas, but colleagues from the army.

Lavena Johnson was 19 years old when, in July 2005, died in Balad base in Iraq. Her body was in an awful state: broken nose, broken teeth, traces of a violent rape, acid burnt genitals, burning fire marks through her head. From the deserted tent, where her body was found,  a bloody streak stretched on the sand led all the way. Military prosecutors began an investigation, asked a few questions. Nobody saw nothing, no one heard anything. Case closed, the conclusion: suicide. Apparently Lavena Johnson, first beat and then raped herself, burnt, and finally pressed a gun to the base of skull and pulled the trigger. After all she crawled the ground into the tent….
 At least dozen similar “suicides” happened in the U.S. Army in recent years.
  “We swing, gentlemen”.

The case of young Lavena is extremely brutal and absurd. It  thus perfectly illustrates the attitude of the American military establishment to the problem of violence against women in the army: pretending that nothing stinks. Pretending at ANY price .

Sex carnage

Meanwhile, the smell of corruption long crooked politicians and commanders should put their face in a painful grimace. Statistics compiled by Department of Veterans Affairs are alarming: one in three American in the military are victims of rape and 90% are experiencing some form of harassment. Seven out of ten women soldiers, suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD), carry within themselves the memories of shame or harassment by a comrade in arms. But this is only the beginning of a nightmare. Statistics indicate that if you have been raped in the army once it will happen again and again – told Loretta Sanchez (Army Affairs) providing news to BBC reporters.

About the sexual exploitation of women in the U.S. armed forces was completely absent in the public debate for years. Serious voices on this issue appeared only after the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. The burden of conducting two wars at once forced the Pentagon to open doors also to female recruits, who are becoming bigger numbers, encouraged by patriotic feelings,  adventure’s perspective, reasonable salary and the prospect of paid-up study after two years of service. Today, as a result, one in seven American soldier is a woman. Never before there’s been so many of them stationing in army barracks in the U.S. and abroad. Never before so many of them were raped. This happens during the patrols, exercises, bathing, or on the way to the latrine where working generators noise drows out the call for help.

The subject had finally come to the surface. Some of the injured women dared to talk publicly  about their experiences. Other stories have been traced by journalists.  Cases of women soldiers fighting with primitive masculine impulse, sometimes transformed into the real struggle for life, as shown in the case of Lavena finally saw the daylight. There are quite few associations trying to help the victims and demanding changes in the army. As a result, in 2005 there were minor reforms introduced to  ensure more privacy of American female soldiers: making effective use of medical and psychological help, without need to report the rape of their commanders as the only resort. organizations have introduced training in the prevention and self-defense during the sexual assault.

Unfortunately effects are mediocre. Last year, American women reported nearly 4,000 rapes carried out in military bases – the LARGEST in history. It is estimated however, that it is only a tenth of the true number of such crimes.

It is better to sit quietly

In 2006, Afghanistan Marti Ribeiro made a big mistake – put aside her rifle, which should not to be left, even in the base, and went for a cigarette. Then someone attacked her from behind, dragged behind working power generator and raped. When the commander has found out, she heard him saying that if any complaint will be brought she would stand before a court martial for leaving unattended weapons. As for rapist, he will deny everything, so that would be her word against his, and they had no intention to believe Marti Ribeiro – BBC was reporting.
Marti therefore has decided not to submit the petition.

Rape and attempt to rape are not even clearly defined in the American military law. As a result, military tribunals, offers sometimes very incomprehensible sentences. Aviator Cassandra Hernandez had been raped during the group play by her three colleagues. When, however, she refused to submit evidence against them before the court, the command staff have sued her for drinking alcohol before the age of 18th and “indecent behavior”. She was threatened with years in prison, but ended up with the punishment and disciplinary record in the file. Suspected rapists did not carry any consequence in court.

Impunity of perpetrators is grotesque. Half of prosecutions for sexual violence in the army shall be remitted. Investigators do not like to trouble the good boys, “who serve the country”, as one of the victims heard from their commander. Less than 11% of the investigations ended before the tribunal, but most detected offenders received only the sentences of suspension, reprimand or degradation. Many offenders will advance without major problems in the future. Very telling is the fact that even after the death convicted rapists receive a military funeral with all honors.

Inability or unwillingness of the American army to break the men’s integrity can seriously impinge on its effectiveness. On the battlefield companions trust is essential. Only through it every soldier can effectively perform tasks requiring co-operation, from shooting operations to disarming mines Female soldier who feels threatened by their own countrymen, is a loosing/unfortunate part of the combat potential. Given the growing number of women in the military, it may be a big loss.

This is no small paradox that a country fighting for the “hearts and minds” of foreign nations,  at its  own request,  retains in armed forces people who are able to rape their comrade women fellows. If they are able to do something like that, what will stop them from playing little games at the expense  of Iraqi or Afghan women? They surely won’t complain about  them to the commander.

U.S. Congress regularly discusses the problem of rape in the military. The discussions, however, are out of use without a change in thinking. The attitude of leaders, who turn a blind eye to the excesses of charges or themselves take part in them, have to change. Dr. Keys Whitley, director of the Office for the Prevention and respond to sexual attacks (SAPRO) with the Secretary of Defense claim that more direct evidence of such matters land in the military tribunals.

And what can disgraced soldier do? Reasons to remain silent, are numerous, overlap and accumulation of despair are the only rescue in which many women closes in solitude. The equation is simple. If they keep quiet, they can save their career and save themselves other troubles.

Still, it is a strong argument in favor of making loud scream to this complaint. When the first American women in uniform have decided to talk about rape, the U.S. started talking about this problem. When joined by another women, people in authority had to make small changes. Once these voices become enough strong, they can resist even the toughest military concrete. It will benefit not just women soldiers…..

Question: Dear Credit Score Report,

In our family, we have one main joint credit card, and we each have one personal card. All cards are paid off in full each month. However, since we use our joint card for everything, we often have a reasonably high balance — anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000 with about a $35,000 limit — until the payment due date. Is this hurting our credit score? — Sonja

Answer: Hey Sonja,

Your credit score could be hurt by large balances, even if they are always paid off, so keeping debt levels relatively low may help your family’s scores.

Due to the way account information appears on credit reports, your heavy card usage could impact your credit score. A review of your family’s credit reports and scores may confirm this fact. The reason is based on the reporting process, which goes like this: Banks pass your account information, including balances and limits, along to the credit bureaus , which in turn list that information on your credit report. When you (or a lender) request to see your credit score, the current information on your report gets plugged into a credit scoring formula. The issue for heavy-charging — but otherwise responsible — cardholders is exactly when various lenders report information to the bureaus.

Although they can report more or less frequently, lenders typically report only once a month. When that happens, the bank reports if the last payment was made on time and the balance listed on the most recent statement, says Maxine Sweet, vice president of public education for credit bureau Experian.

To understand how this impacts credit scores, an example may be in order. Let’s say that:

• For the month of June, you run up a balance of $10,000.

• On June 30th, the bank reports your May on-time payment and June balance to the credit bureaus.

• You then pay off your entire balance on the due date of July 1st.

• However, since lenders only report once a month, according to Sweet, your credit score on July 2nd still shows that $10,000 balance you have since paid off.

As you may know, the comparison of your balances to limits — often called your utilization ratio — is an important factor in the calculation of credit scores. To preserve your score, experts say that card balances shouldn’t exceed 30 percent of your credit limits. That means those months when you ring up $15,000 in charges (about 43 percent of your limit) are putting you into the danger zone.

To solve that problem, you can lower the ratio using several approaches:

Charge Less

There’s just one guaranteed way to reduce your account balance. “The only sure way to get a lower balance reported is to charge less on the card,” Sweet says.

Pay More Often

During months when your card balance looks set to top that 30 percent utilization ratio, pay off a portion of the balance partway through the billing cycle. That will ensure that whenever the bank reports on your account, you have a less-sizable balance.

Request a Higher Credit Limit

If you’ve been a good customer and have a solid income, the bank may grant a request for a higher credit limit. Just be warned that this can trigger an account review which could have the unintended consequence of actually leaving you with worse credit terms.

Use Those Other Cards

Put some of your monthly expenses on those personal cards to protect against account closures due to unused plastic. When accounts are closed, it can leave you will less available credit overall, which can be a drag on your credit score.

Of course, in order to make purchases in cash or pay down your balance more frequently, you need to have money available. This may not be possible, especially if you use the credit card to fund purchases now and buy yourself time until a later payday. If that’s your approach, be careful. An unexpected event (such as a sudden layoff or family sickness) could leave you unable to make a card payment that month. Even one late payment could seriously damage your credit. (Leading credit score creator FICO has said that a maxed-out card can reduce a score by 10 to 45 points, while a 30-day late payment can drop a score by 60 to 110 points.) To avoid that scenario, I’d recommend cutting back on spending in order to both regularly pay down card debt and build up an emergency fund.

Missing a payment on a joint account means the entire family could see their credit scores fall. That why experts instead recommend adding authorized users on an account, since the debt load and scoring damage should only impact the primary cardholder.

For now, though, just focus on continuing your on-time payments, taking on new debt only when necessary and keeping your debt levels low.
